"Originally formed in 1999, PLANETA IMAGINARIO is a Spanish band from the region of Catalonia: their style is clearly oriented toward the jazz trend of prog rock, yet it is somewhat friendly to additional psychedelic touches and chamber adornments." - last.fm Thats right; I just cut and pasted my description like a lazy shit. What of it?? Anyway, this album is absolutely enthralling. Take the prog rock sound of the 70's with extra Floydian psychedlia, inject it with Badbadnotgood and BAM! Planeta Imaginario.
Sometimes call for you to step out from reality; let Qa'a be your tour guide. This is lush krautrock painted jams that pulsate energies of the pineal gland only to weave back in to reality. At times this album can rock, and then it can go into entrancing, meditative tones. To be blunt, this is one of those albums that will make your friends feel like they're tripping. A trip that they will find clarity and plenty of beauty along the way. Dose your friends with Qa'a.
Drums & Tuba. Yea, there are drums and tubas going on in this recording but so much more (guitars, loops, pianos, scratching and so much more!). From trip-hop like vibes to post-rock esque build and peak structure, this album weaves you through various styles to take you to a mental landscape that is foreign to the senses but yet has an air of familiarity, nonetheless fun and fantastic in its true sense of the word.
Goddamn. The boundaries of beauty music can explore is limitless. These revelations are what keep me intact; finding music that touches my core in such a profound way that it elevates me to a zen like euphoric state. Euphone and their seemingly endless tones of joy brought through by a plethora of instruments come together to create something otherworldly. You need this album, and so do your friends.

The mystery, intrigue, and magical euphoria experienced while in the midst of a psilocybin fueled trip to the woods has been perfectly captured on this timeless and mind-bending classic, Circulatory System. They take the warm, communal pop sounds of the 60's and absolutely drench it in psychedelia leaving us with a timeless record.

Prince Nifty crafts his own unique sounds that obviously make no compromises; whether he is in a folky mood or a trippy mood, he'll express that side for our enjoyment. There just simply is no other band who has conjured up such an adventurous and intriguing take on the genre of "post-rock" than these motherfuckers. This album grooves hard at times, entrances in others with a surreal tone permeating throughout. I can't recommend this enough; this album MUST be heard!

What we have here is absolute avant-garde magic that might cause your head to float away. Frankly, this is a monster of an album to describe. There are elements of jazz, noise, funk, psychedelia, post-punk, and whatever the fuck else they felt fit.

There are a handful of albums that made a profound impact on the tone of my high school career; this is one of those albums in particular that will certainly tattoo its melodies into you for eternity (spin hohoho!!). Its put under the genre "dream pop" and it seems to be exactly that; catchy tunes conjured up in the world of a dreaming mind. The tones are so thick its like a haze of sound you will certainly get lost in.
This Japanese octet features two guitarists, a drummer, a trumpet player, two
saxophone players, a keyboard player, and a bass player conjuring magic from the depths of their souls to bring you mind bending avant-garde jazz/post-rocky madness that moves from intense madness to classy beauty. Natsumen has been a favorite of mine for years now; now delve into my obsession with me! Truly a one of a kind gem not to be missed.

I promise you have never heard hip-hop done in this fashion, but yet again that can be said about a lot of the artists of the Anticon collective/label. Its hard to even say if this is hip-hop. It's spacy as fuck; certainly not music to get pumped up to, but rather get lost in to a surreal mental state. The rapping(?) often verges into singing, but really its neither. It was hard describing this 2001 jem.

How the fuck did I forget about this band? Brain broke. Their sound is massive and intensely beautiful guided by sweeping ethereal pianos and driven by an extremely talented ensemble that will take you to the clarity of being atop a mountain to the euphoria of a funky fungus on through to the moving intensity of waves crashing. This is fantastic music right here that anyone can enjoy, from your friend who is too stoned to move to your parents who are stuck in the car with you. Dig!

Orchestral math rock? Fucking right it is, and maybe you can't picture how it sounds, but works phenomenally utilizing the power of violin and xylophone; instruments generally unheard of in this genre. This is the rare kind of music that will catch the attention of anyone in earshot and has an undeniable impressive quality that can reach audiences far and wide.
Artist: Renaissance Sound
Album: Renaissance Sound I & II

This man must be shared with the world!! He creates otherworldly music that will most definitely elevate you to another level. Jazzy, psychedelic, bouncy madness that is both bad ass and conscious expanding. Do yourself a fucking favor and listen!
England's answer to Eyehategod, and with a (slightly) less dumb sounding name! I kid, I kid, but in all seriousness this band will tear you a new asshole. Who says you need to have blistering speed to be the all encompassing description of 'brutal'? I say ney, as Iron Monkey does it with bluesy, hardcore punk inspired sludge riffs with enough punch to restart your grandmothers heart.
