shy guy says

Stoned and nestled comfortably inside while its nipple shatteringly cold outside?  Its time to throw shy guy says on.  Their floating/woven guitars, dream-like ambiance running throughout and subtle complexities call for a beautiful and engaging album.  Oooooo!

RENAISSANCE SOUND

Orchestral math rock?  Fucking right it is, and maybe you can't picture how it sounds, but works phenomenally utilizing the power of violin and xylophone; instruments generally unheard of in this genre. This is the rare kind of music that will catch the attention of anyone in earshot and has an undeniable impressive quality that can reach audiences far and wide.

JUNE OF 44

This shit rocks, its complex both with mathy time signatures and its near jazzy rock thats also very energetic. At times they can sound like a slightly more aggressive Modest Mouse. The song Lifted Bells verges on straight up jam. Just listen to the album.

"June of 44 created music that ranged from experimental jazz to ambient dub to angular post punk." - Touch and Go Records

Upsilon Acrux

There are a lot of math rock bands out there that are very similar in nature; Upsilon Acrux is not one of those bands.  Described as “brutal prog” (not sure what exactly that means but it definitely fits), Upsilon Acrux take the math rock aesthetics and makes them completely their own.  In one song, you will hear various genres of influence and unique sounds created from all the instruments presented (guitar, synth, bass, drums) creating a thoroughly entertaining experience with new things to be noticed with each listen.  Despite the complex poly-rhythms and abrupt changes, it all some how flows together beautifully creating unconventional melodies sure to please.
